UTE launches CAT Asphalt Pavers in Sri Lanka
Another first for United Tractor & Equipment (Pvt) Ltd, when the sole authorized dealer for Caterpillar products in Sri Lanka sold the first units of CAT Asphalt Pavers in the local market.
An asphalt Paver is a machine that is used for laying the top layers of asphalt roads. These are complex machines which guide precision thickness of the asphalt layers, which ultimately results in the smooth & even surface of a paved road. The durability of the road is also dependent on the quality of the top layers, especially under Sri Lankan conditions where there are prolonged seasons of rain.
Until recently most of the local contractors were hesitant to invest in brand new Asphalt Pavers due to the volatile market conditions. Now with the construction industry boom experienced subsequent to the ending of the civil war, more & more contractors are readily investing in sophisticated & expensive machinery such as Asphalt Pavers.
The first two units of CAT Asphalt Pavers in Sri Lanka were purchased by RR Construction Ltd & Access Engineering Ltd. These units were handed over to them in Colombo in the presence of Caterpillar representatives in early January. Onsite training sessions were conducted for the Operators by Caterpillar experts on getting maximum value out of their asphalt pavers.
Speaking about his latest acquisition Mr. Ranjith Senadheera of RR Constructions Ltd, appreciated UTE & Caterpillar for conducting awareness programmes which made him realize the benefits of CAT Asphalt Pavers. “I used to buy second hand pavers like many other local contractors do. However various reliability issues and difficulties in sourcing spare parts for those equipment have really affected my ability to complete projects within strict deadlines. With the brand new CAT Asphalt Pavers, I will face none of those issues”

UTE machines Sales Division has partnered with Caterpillar Asia Pacific Paving Products Division to create awareness in the Sri Lankan market about paving products offered by Caterpillar. During the past two years under the guidance of Mr. Shaker Dey (CAT Territory Manager – India region) UTE has conducted many awareness creation programs in the Sri Lankan market. These programs have really helped to change the customer attitude towards investing in brand new paving equipment as against the usage of second hand machinery, which was the standard practice in the past.
